Account Information
When you sign in with Google, we collect:
- Email address - Used to identify your account
- Display name - Shown in the app (if provided by Google)
- Profile photo URL - Displayed in your profile (if provided by Google)
App Data
When you use Tastemaker, we store the data you create:
- Comparisons - Names and settings for your comparison projects
- Options - Items you're comparing within each comparison
- Ratings - Scores and notes you assign to options, with timestamps
User Preferences
We store your app preferences:
- Theme setting (light, dark, or system)
- Rating display preferences
- Dashboard layout preferences
Information We Do Not Collect
Tastemaker does not collect:
- Device identifiers or advertising IDs
- Location data
- Usage analytics or behavioral data
- Crash reports or error logs
How We Use Your Information
We use your information solely to:
- Provide app functionality - Store and sync your comparisons, options, and ratings
- Authenticate your account - Verify your identity when you sign in
- Sync across devices - Keep your data available on any device where you sign in

- Share your data with other users (all data is private to your account)
Data Storage and Security
Where Your Data Is Stored
Your data is stored in Firebase Firestore, a cloud database service operated by Google. Firebase servers are located in the United States.
How We Protect Your Data
- Encryption in transit - All data transmitted between your device and our servers uses TLS encryption
- Encryption at rest - Firebase encrypts stored data by default
- Access controls - Server-side security rules ensure you can only access your own data
- Input validation - All user input is validated to prevent security vulnerabilities

Your Rights
View Your Data
All data you create in Tastemaker is visible to you within the app. You can view your comparisons, options, and ratings at any time.
Delete Your Account
You can permanently delete your account and all associated data:
- Open Tastemaker
- Go to Settings
- Tap Delete Account
- Confirm the deletion
Account deletion is permanent and removes:
- Your user profile
- All comparisons you created
- All options within those comparisons
- All ratings and notes
This action cannot be undone.
Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, all associated data is permanently removed from our servers.
Children's Privacy
Tastemaker is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete that information.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
For significant changes that affect how we handle your data, we will notify you through the app or via email.
